Goth kids have always spent the year-long void in between Halloweens consuming dark movies, in some cases making "cult" film a double entendre. The Goth movement always found influence from movies, and vice versa, with heroes like Fairuza Balk as Nancy Downs in The Craft becoming guiding lights for Goth-ness stylistically and philosophically.įilms have long tapped into the groups that would rather have a séance than go to prom, finding an appeal with the indoor kids who occasionally crossed into other dark arenas like Industrial music, Magic: The Gathering, or even simply dissecting dead animals. Whether you summoned the dark arts, or merely applied some excessive eyeliner to sufficiently darken up your day, you were making a rebellious statement to the world with your deathly appearance and eff you attitude.
